Forward
The following papers/monographs have been collected over a number of years from a variety of sources. Although some may be 40 years or older, I believe that much of the information is still relevant today. Even though coatings technology has evolved in some areas some traditional polymers are still the mainstay of the coatings industry. As I have not been able to find them on the internet, I thought it might be beneficial to readers if I included them on my website for posterity.
- As far as I can ascertain, these documents were made available to the general industry, free of charge, and without copyright.
- The information contained in these documents is based on the work of others, unless otherwise indicated. As such all rights and interests belong to the relevant authors(s) and/or their employers.
- The individual documents contain their own disclaimers as to their content. Please ensure that you read and fully understand these disclaimers/exclusion of liabilities.
- I offer no warranty as to the suitability of any of the included information for any purpose whatsoever. Use at your own risk
- As many of these documents are old, the original companies that provided the information may no longer exist or may have divested their interest in the raw materials referred to. If there are any queries specifically on the raw materials promoted within them, I would suggest that any users identify the current suppliers of those raw materials for additional information required.
- Where these documents contain additional data such as formulations, it is unlikely that the current raw material suppliers will have any specific knowledge of them. In such cases, it would be advisable to request formulations and additional information directly from the existing raw material suppliers as required.
- I will add additional documents to these pages as and when I have time.
- Some of the documents I have are already in PDF form, others only as printed materials which will require scanning. If anyone has an interest for a specific document please let me know and I'll see if I have it and will give it priority.
I have split the documents I have based on their application areas. Although this website is primarily concerned with coatings resins, I have also included some documents I have on unsaturated polyesters, as utilised by the fibreglass industry, for those who might find them useful. In certain respects the information might well be complementary to that provided for coatings resins, especially where similar, or identical, raw materials are used.
I have preserved the titles of the available documents as far as possible and provided a short explanation of their contents. Clicking on the title will open the document as a new web page.
Coatings
How to process better coating resins with BP PIA, TMA and TA Bulletin C-2.
Provides details on the general formulation and processing of resins by esterification reactions. Additionally contains the standard calculations used during formulations such as water loss, molecular mass, oil length etc.
Unsaturated Polyesters
