About
Background
During my days at university I took an interest in polymers during my 4th year honours course in chemistry. Over the last 40 years or so I have been involved in the design, production and usage of solvent based resins across 4 continents in positions ranging from Technical Services Manager, Production Manager, Sales Manager through to Chemicals Division Manager. In all but one instance the design of solvent based resins has fallen under my umbrella, perhaps because of my continued interest in the area but more specifically because, as a professional chemist, it's a subject which I studied for and continue to enjoy. As with many other subjects, the depth and breadth of chemistry is enormous, and one can rarely, if ever, say that there's nothing left to learn.
Contents
During my years working across 4 continents I've found that, in certain cases, resin chemistry is something of a 'black art' and there are many misconceptions which I have tried to dispel by reverting to the fundamental chemistry involved.
Additionally, I have been asked what is the best choice of a resin system, for a specific application, under specific environmental conditions.
Within the confines of these pages I hope to have answered those questions that are more definitive, specifically related to the technology and the usage of these resins, that interested readers might have.
Consultancy
During my industrial career I have helped companies (both resin and coating) improve their technology, products, quality, increase sales and avoid expensive pitfalls. This has been done by staff training in the areas of R&D, QA, production and sales, both on site and remotely. If you feel that you might benefit from my experience in the solvent based resin industry, I do offer a consultancy in this regard. Consultancy is offered either on a remote (off-site), or on-site basis, as required.
